Dear Linda - Will there be a sequel to The Gifted?

I really loved your book The Gifted. Are you planning to write a sequel for The Gifted? I ask because you left a lot of questions unanswered for me. Such as what was the anomaly that brought Sah'Reena to earth and what became of her home planet? Please say you will be writing a sequel to The Gifted. Love all your other books as well but The Gifted was my favorite.

Hi!

Thank you for your wonderful words of encouragement! Yes, I am working on a sequel to THE GIFTED. In it I do address the anomaly and what happens to Sah’Reena’s planet. At the moment I don’t know when it will be finished, contracted, or published, but know it’s already in the works.

Thanks for getting in touch with me!

They were the Guardians. Sixteen special men and women with incredible powers, who had sworn their lives to the protection of their galaxy, while upholding the laws of their world.

For Master Hunter and StarLight, it seems the worst is over. With StarLight still recovering from her near-death experience with the Ombitra, they are ready to resume their lives as the first-ever married Guardian couple in history. Ready for a new life filled with love and extraordinary passion.

But there are unknown perils when working in outer space. There are dangers beyond description--unforeseeable events and catastrophes that can bring nightmares to any sane person.

They had sworn they would share a lifetime together.

Dear Linda,

Any chance of a sequel to the HeartFast/HeartCrystal stories?

Yes, but I have no idea when.  But I've had several people let me know of some "loose ends" that I need to clear up, especially regarding:

-the romance between Doctor Devorah Perlakian and Commander

-StarLight's past history

-Seeker's infatuation with Master Hunter

What I can tell you is the title will be HeartStorm.  So just keep your eyes open for further details and announcements.

(Thank you, DW!)

Dear Linda: Regarding HeartFast and HeartCrystal

I'm getting emails coming in from reviewers and readers asking about a third sequel, or at least a book 3, to the HeartFast/HeartCrystal series.

Insofar, here are some of the "loose threads" people are wanting to see "tied up" (no real spoilers below):

* The son.

* The daughter's powers.

* How they raise two kids with out-of-control powers.

* The pirates. How they stop them.

* Commander's relationship with Devorah. How that comes about. (This one was mentioned several times.)

* The kid who looked through the window in the first novel and swore he would become a Guardian.

* Destiny and her predictions. What's her story? Her background with the large silver eyes.

* And what about the details of Star's background? What lead to her leaving home? When did she know she had powers?

* And more background on the Guardians. How did they get started?

Dang it! Now you've got me to thinking! LOL! Don't be surprised if you see something pop up soon in my WIP section on my website, or on this blog.

(Thanks to Jo for the nudge. Or is that a thwack with a rolled-up newspaper? LOL!)

5 Cherries for HEARTCRYSTAL!

In this fantastic follow-up to HeartFast, Ms. Mooney once again takes us into the fascinating world of Star Light, Master Hunter and the Guardians.

First, I want to say that this is a wonderful sequel or companion story for HeartFast, and while HeartCrystal can stand alone, it does reveal and refer to events that happened in HeartFast as it provides background for the characters. So to gain a better understanding of the characters, what they have experienced, and the world that they live in it might be best to read HeartFast first unless you don’t mind a few spoilers.

As a whole, I loved HeartCrystal and its touching story. We once again meet Star and Hunter and get to see how they are adjusting to married life while honeymooning and dealing with their job. It is a big adjustment to both of them as they are both still dealing with some traumatic events and what it means to be married and do their job as Guardians. I really enjoyed watching as they deal with all the changes that married life has brought them.

Star in particular has a lot to adjust to as she isn’t used to having a family. It was interesting to see how she deals with Hunter’s family as they and Hunter try to make her feel at ease and loved. Her hesitancy is obvious as the story progresses and you can’t help but feel for her. Hunter still worries about Star and it is touching to see his concern and love for her. The two share an obvious bond and passion that is very touching.

As for the title for the story, it comes from a fascinating concept or legend involving crystals that act as a sort of “perfect mate” indicator when the right couple finds the right crystal. Star and Hunter’s crystal is particularly special and plays a big part in this touching story. I really enjoyed this whole aspect of the story and how it ties into a major plotline, a plotline that came as a big surprise to me.

Once again, the author definitely knows how to blindside the reader, as well as pull at the heartstrings, as events occur that I never saw coming. I don’t wish to spoil anything, but the events really touched me and I definitely shed a tear or two. This was an emotional read filled with breathtaking events and adventures that captivated me. Each page seemed to bring something new and I loved how characters and events were interconnected and everything made sense. The author did a wonderful job of weaving everything together without confusing the reader.

I also really enjoyed the secondary characters of the story…mainly Star and Hunter’s fellow Guardians. They were all unique and fascinating and I could sense some potential for some more books as I’d love to see more of them.

Ms. Mooney is a talented author and I look forward to reading more of her work. So if you enjoy touching futuristic romances with wonderful characters and exciting plots, then you might want to read this one.

For the Love of Reading - A Sequel/Prequel Worth Mentioning

If you loved Somewhere in Time like I did, try to find a copy of this book.

Memoirs of Elise
by David Gurnee

"This sequel/prequel to Somewhere in Time was inspired by the movie's poignant opening scene. In this scene Elise McKenna sits alone in the darkness waiting for her opportunity to give a young playwright, Richard Collier, a watch, and to utter the enigmatic words, "Come back to me." The underlying emotion of the scene, and possibly of the entire film, comes from the fact that she had been waiting for this day for sixty years!"

"A book with uncommon and stunning beauty......that will carry on the rare and brilliant passion of SOMEWHERE IN TIME."

"What had Elise been through in those sixty years?
How did she discover where Richard Collier had come from?
How did she find him?
Memoirs of Elise answers these questions in a manner that is loyal to the original story.
Come back to me! "

First Review for HEARTCRYSTAL!

After a near death experience with the Ombitra, married Guardians StarLight and Master Hunter set out on their honeymoon. Where do they go but Hunter’s home planet of Abernath. Why? Because Star needs the energy from Abernath’s sun to complete her healing and with Hunter’s family visiting Guardian Command, the newlyweds get some bonding time.

Of course things don’t go quite the way Hunter planned and outside life does its best to interfere. Hunter’s family eventually returns home putting an end to the "honeymoon."

While on a shopping expedition with Hunter’s mother, Star learns about the HeartCrystal. What she learns sends Star and Hunter on a quest to find their own HeartCrystal.

Linda Mooney has done a top notch job of world building. She has created this wonderful world of superheroes who are not cut from the usual cookie cutter mold. In spite of their careers, the Guardians come across just like regular people. They have the same trials and tribulations that we do. They just have special powers and abilities that help them triumph, usually. In some instances that can make the situation worse though.

Starting just after HeartFast ends, HeartCrystal gives us a couple who has made the ultimate sacrifice and now has to rebuild not just their personal life but their work relationships too. We are given a more intimate look into Hunter’s family and the inner workings of the Guardians. Throw in the start of a possible secondary romance, a little time travel and a history lesson on what may have led up to the HandFast coming into existence and you get a story that will make you laugh a little but mostly it will twist your heartstrings to pieces. You may want to keep a box of Kleenex nearby while reading this one.
