Alligator, Bear, Cougar, Deer, Eagle
They found each other by accident. They became a team for life.

When Clint Abrams of Bag It and Tag It Excursions is approached by representatives of JayMax Productions to film scenes in the swamp for a horror movie, he is intrigued. Both by the movie, whose subject hits a little too close to home, and by the tall, freckled redhead, Charlie Dupine.

Clint can’t hide his feelings for Charlie, and the more time he spends with her, the more he knows she is his destiny. His life mate. His everything.

There is something about Clint that Charlie can’t quite explain, and she can’t get him off her mind. She’s not big on relationships but if nothing else, a one-night stand with the guy can’t hurt while she’s at the lodge. He’s causing feelings in her that she’s not sure about.

But when danger rears its head, it’s not all because of the wildlife. Clint will do whatever it takes to save her, but that may mean exposing his secret. Will she run when she learns the truth? Or can she love him just the same? That choice may be taken away when lives are threatened and the FBI becomes involved.

Warning! Contains swampy bogs, a snare pole necklace, alligator soup, were-gators, an explosive pineapple, and one insane act that could cost a man his life, as well as the woman he loves.

On the 12th Day of Christmas

What would you like for Santa to bring you
if money was no object?

Six on Sunday - BREATH OF CHRISTMAS

Six paragraphs from Breath of Christmas, a Sweet Contemporary Fantasy.

1. Brindle dug her nails into the palm of her hands and tried to steady herself. Eventually, the hopelessness faded away. “You’ve come to grips with it, Brin. You’ve come to accept the inevitable. You’re home now. Time to find your inner peace and let God do as he may while you’re happy.”

2. Dropping both feet to the floor, he leaned over the coffee table, closer to her. “Listen. You’re a young woman who has severe health problems, or else you wouldn’t be on oxygen. You come back to town where you grew up, but you know practically no one. You’re alone, you’re afraid, and you’re very wary of complete strangers who try to help you. Especially men. If I was in your shoes, I’d probably feel the same way.” He leaned back again. “So what did she tell you?”

3. Hamon came over and sat on the opposite end of the sofa, turning to where he faced her as he continued in a gentler tone. “I may be wrong, but I think you don’t have two nickels to rub together. Go ahead. Tell me I’m wrong.”

4. Hearing his bantering tone, she closed her menu to give him a direct look. “Come off it, Hamon. You know you have devastatingly good looks. Add to that the fact that you’re a wounded veteran, I’m amazed you aren’t being inundated with girls asking you out.”

5. In addition, she couldn’t deny, nor could she describe how happy she was at this moment. She’d seen everything she’d hoped to see when she came home. She’d revisited her favorite spots, eaten at her favorite restaurants, and relived her most precious memories. With the exception of her illness, these past couple of days couldn’t have been more perfect.

6. “I fell in love with you, Brindle. I wasn’t planning on it. I never believed it was possible for me to do such a thing. But now I understand why I was assigned to be with you. Because having someone to love you was the one thing you always regretted never having. And my task is to make sure you never want for anything ever again.”

Book Description:

The president has announced that Earth is going to collide with a rogue moon, and in the process, our entire planet is going to be smashed to bits. As one would expect, upon hearing this news, humans went ballistic. It was as if every sports team in the world lost their championship game at the same time. No car was left unrolled—but oddly enough, Taco Bell remained open and made unfathomable profits in the last days. Apparently, Doritos Locos® Tacos were a popular last meal.

Autumn (who for the purpose of this retelling asked to be portrayed as drool-inducing hot with kick-ass ninja skills) has just been handed the task of saving all of humanity. With the help of her unbelievably sexy alien boyfriend and her kleptomaniac friend with fire-retardant hair, Autumn takes a spaceship and races to save her fellow humans by using the Ark of the Covenant. Along the way, she discovers how sheltered people are from the truth of extraterrestrials and their power to either protect us or destroy us.

Stupid government.

Grab a bottle of wine, a shipload of snacks, and prepare to take a ride on this humorous chick lit romantic sci-fi paranormal adventure. If you’re into Ancient Aliens, conspiracy theories, UFOs, crave a little sexy time in your reading, are curious if we were genetically engineered (like the Sumerian cuneiform texts claim), and are dying to find out the meaning of life, then this book is for you.

What is it about this book that makes it special?
Where else will you get a chance to fly a spaceship into the drive-through of Arby’s for some Beef ‘n Cheddars and Curley Fries?
One reviewer referred to my book as “genre-bending” and that really does sum up its uniqueness. It doesn’t necessarily stick to one genre or adhere to any genre formula. Holy Crap! The World is Ending! is a contemporary chick lit humorous sci-fi paranormal mythological romance adventure. It is laugh-out-loud funny, downright weird in parts, has some super steamy sex scenes, but also tackles serious issues and situations. Like real life, you can be up one minute and down the next. But even in the direst moments, you can find the humor in life and the determination to keep going. It is also based on the Sumerian cuneiform tablets and their gods called the Anunnaki. They have a very different take on how the human race was created, and all of this history is sprinkled throughout the book.

I kind of think of it as if Bridget Jones married Douglas Adams and then they had a had a ménage à trois with Janet Evanovich and ended up trapped in a Dan Brown novel.

But all that said, my favorite thing about the book is the chapter titles. When I was writing the first draft of my novel, I needed a quick reminder of what was in each chapter, so I made notes. I realized how crazy they sounded and decided to keep them as chapter titles. Here are a couple of my favorites:

Tweezers of Death and Levitating Kleenex

Floating Fortresses, Slinging Poo, Nefarious Nazi Aliens, and a Chippendales’ Convention

Spaceship Drive-Through, Decapitated Gorillas, Alligator Snorting, and Ding Dong Domination

Artificial Pastry Killers, Hot Russian Girls, Drunken Woes, and President Lincoln’s Butt Wedgie

Solid Diamond Grillz, Hairy Hiding Places, Poisonous Penis Darts, and a Gaseous Fire-Belching Bunny

What Reviewers Have to Say

"An unexpected story that promises to be one of the most creative fictional discoveries of the year...a fun approach to the entire save-the-Earth-from-alien-invasion scenario which successfully turns traditional approaches upside down."- D. Donovan, Senior Reviewer, Midwest Book Review

"A rollicking seat of your pants fun ride through the universe!"- Joan Silvestro, Booktrader of Hamilton

"An awesome read! Warm, witty--and thought provoking--a beach read that stays with you throughout the year!"- Aionios Books

"This book starts with a lot of humour, but quickly gets a very rich storyline with great characters and seriously... this ending? If you like to be blown away, you should read this!" - Esther, BiteIntoBooks

"Anna-Marie Abell has succeeded in weaving her years of study into in the ancient Sumerian culture and their gods with common conspiracy theories, pop culture and random human quirkiness into an out of this world end times romp that will have you laughing out loud at the most inappropriate times and possibly even shedding a tear or two before it's all said and done." - Jennifer, JennlyReads

Excerpt 1

What if...
Ever since I was a kid I’ve been fascinated by the unimaginable. I used to gaze at the night sky and contemplate a series of what ifs. But I’m not talking about the boring typical what ifs such as:
What if I won the lotto?
What if I quit my job and moved to Tanzania?
I’m talking about those outlandish ones:
What if I ran across a herd of three-inch pigmy cows capable of producing solid gold milk, but each ounce I extracted took a month off my life? Would I still do it?
What if we could suddenly have intellectual conversations with all animals? Would we continue to eat them?
What if the whole world went blind and deaf all at the same time? Would we survive as a species?
Another favorite childhood pastime of mine was observing ants clambering atop one another to locate food or gather leaves, like inhabitants of a metropolis bustling to work. Ants are innately oblivious to the threat of a gargantuan foot looming over them. I’ve often wondered if humans would behave the same way if the tables were turned.
What if a jumbo foot came down on us and squashed a city block on a regular basis? After a while, would we just shrug it off and alter course to go around it like ants do?
Some people go out of their way to squish any and all bugs that come across their path. Not me. I have a strict “no kill” policy with every type of animal.
Well, that’s not entirely true. I have an exception for animals I buy in a grocery store. I know: this is incredibly hypocritical. But dammit, I love me some cow. Perhaps I should define my “no kill” policy as “not slaying a creature simply because it annoys you—or simply because you can.”
For example, I can’t help but wonder:
What if I were reincarnated as a fly in my next life? Would I appreciate getting stuck on a glue trap?
Put yourself in the fly’s place. You’re ambling along, minding your own business, when out of nowhere the glorious aroma of In-N-Out Burger wafts in your direction. Those freshly cooked fries and juicy burgers fill your senses with food ecstasy. Just when you can’t take it anymore, a sign pops up out of thin air that reads: All You Can Eat! Free In-N-Out Burgers All Day.
Salivating, you charge toward the smell all excited. Then—BAM!—you step onto a glue pad, unable to break free. Not only are you doomed to a lengthy, torturous death of dehydration and starvation, but your last days are filled with the constant aroma of those heavenly cheeseburgers you can never have.
Not the way I’d want to kick the bucket, that’s for sure.
My fixation over these what ifs is why I was so into UFOs, ancient aliens, near-death experiences, ghosts, and really, anything paranormal. Truth be told, I’m not sure if deep down I believed in all these things, or if I just wanted them to be real, so I’d have something to hope for beyond the monotony of human life. I mean, think about it. What would be more entertaining: cleaning a toilet, or cleaning a toilet haunted by a ghost? (Well, a friendly one. It might get messy if your bowl were possessed by a demon.) Phantom commodes win hands down.
I’ll never forget the day this whole obsession got started. When I was six, I asked my mom what life was going to be like when I grew up. She was always one for blunt honesty, and she said, “Well, you’ll go to school for a really long time, marry a guy who will lose all his hair, get a job you’ll probably hate, have kids, get old, poop your pants, and then die.”
I broke down in tears.
My mom ended up regretting having told me all that, because at the age of seven, I convinced myself that those things wouldn’t happen to me, and that it was my destiny to one day rescue the planet. I am talking about a Will Smith in Independence Day style rescue (except I imagined myself with a breadstick in my mouth instead of a cigar). In one childhood fantasy, I used a butter knife and my badass Barbie Mobile to defend the residents of my neighborhood from a rampaging, genetically mutated, alien-giraffe hybrid that had escaped from a secret government lab. (Kids, if you ever want your mom to get fired as the president of the PTA so she doesn’t embarrass you in front of your class, simply splatter your shirt with ketchup and burst into the annual Teacher Appreciation Luncheon with a spork screaming about man-eating giraffes. Trust me, it works like a charm.)
This desire to be the hero had me hooked on stories where people discover they’re part of an amazing new reality—a world where the impossible becomes possible. If I waited long enough, I thought, maybe Hagrid and his flying motorcycle would come crashing into my bathroom as I sat on the toilet and proclaim, “You’re a wizard, Autumn!”
But it's one thing to dream it, and an entirely different thing to live it. Had I been smart and heeded the advice of the Pussycat Dolls when they warned us to “Be careful what you wish for, ’cause you just might get it,” then maybe things would have played out differently.
I wished it.
I got it.
And now I’m about to die.

About the Author:

Anna-Marie Abell grew up in a trailer park. Well, several actually. Her trailer was on wheels so she got to experience the Pacific Northwest’s vast array of mobile home parks as her parents moved her from one to the other. Somewhere along the way, she got totally into UFOs. Probably because she was hoping extraterrestrials would come and abduct her. But they never did. Luckily for her she was smart, because her only hope of escaping trailer life was college and a full scholarship. Moving to sunny California on her almost full ride to Chapman University, she was well on her way to her new life. Two bachelor degrees later (Film and Television Production and Media Performance), and several honors and awards for her accomplishments, she managed to start working in an almost completely unrelated industry from her majors: infomercials.

It was in college that she got bit by the “ancient alien” bug after listening to Zecharia Sitchin on Coast to Coast AM. In her pursuit to uncover the truth, she has spent the last twenty years researching the ancient Sumerian culture—in particular their “gods” called the Anunnaki—and their connection to the creation of the human race. What she found changed her life, her beliefs, and her understanding of the universe and everything beyond. Her humorous science fiction trilogy, The Anunnaki Chronicles, is a culmination of all her research, her borderline obsession for all things paranormal, and approximately 2,300 bottles of wine.

On the 5th Day of Christmas

Cocoa or spiced cider?
(And if it's cocoa, how do you prefer it?)

Six on Sunday - WHEN THE HEART WHISPERS

Six paragraphs from When the Heart Whispers, a Sweet Contemporary Romance for the Season.

1.
However, Audra wasn’t biting. “That’s not what I meant, and you know it. Mom, look. It’s been two years. And before that, you were there for Dad for the entire four years he fought that damn cancer. It’s over now. You still have a long life ahead of you, and Bailee and I want you to be happy. Dad would want you to be happy.”

2. “But you now must do something for me, since you’re buying,” George added. Before she could ask, he pointed to one of the tables on the veranda. “Care to sit and talk? Let me at least get to know your name, since it seems fate is determined to keep us bumping into each other.”

3. Tucking the phone into his coat pocket, he got to his feet. A shaft of sunlight highlighted the woman’s hair, and he noticed for the first time that it wasn’t colored. A few, almost unnoticeable gray hairs glittered among the red. Neither was it difficult to see the faint smattering of freckles on her pale complexion.

4. His actions had been instinctive, done without a second thought. At first, he’d been as shocked by his response as Lily had been. Never in a hundred years would he have considered himself to be the hero sort. He’d realized the car was coming at a fast clip and appeared to be gunning to beat the light, even though it had already changed. Had there been other cars already stopped in front of it, the incident wouldn’t have happened. But because, as a native New Yorker, he was always cautious of the traffic, he’d realized what was about to occur. Grabbing Lily to pull her back onto the sidewalk with him was almost a natural reaction. They’d been lucky, to say the least.

5. There was a moment of silence over the line. Lily was about to check to see if Bailee was still on the line, when her daughter cautiously asked, “Who’s George?” A small warning flag went up at the young woman’s tone of voice.

6. She ached to put her arms around him. This man had carried a flame for a woman who’d left him for another. Although it was a story that hundreds, if not thousands of people had faced in their lifetimes, it had affected him so deeply that he’d isolated himself from ever having another relationship with another woman.

Garenth had been awakened to retrieve an ancient artifact that was crucial to his well-being. He had few memories of what his life had been like when he had been a man. What memories that were left were filled with blood and excruciating pain.

That part of him was over now. The talisman had been taken from its sacred burial place, and it had to be returned as quickly as possible. It was up to him to follow through with his mission so he could return to another thousand years of sleep.

Brielle Van de Camp knew an extraordinary find when she saw it. The small clay figure was the key to a potentially earth‑shattering revelation about a previously unknown time in man's ancestry. She would bet her life on it.

Unfortunately, others had gotten wind of the talisman, and they were equally determined to claim its promise for themselves. If Brielle wasn't willing to part with the figurine, they had no compunction about prying it from her dead fingers.

They never counted on having to face the guardian of the statuette, who turned out to be more than a creature of mythology.

Warning! Contains a magic talking rock, a mother idol, boo-lets, a cell phone app, deadly intruders, a ruthless businessman, a key card, and a warrior trying to cope with an ages-old curse with the help of a woman who must be a blessing from the gods.
