While the rest of the United States is getting inundated with rain, south Texas is in the middle of a severe drought. Burn bans have been in effect since the first of the year. And the playground at our school is filled with deep cracks and holes, which make it dangerous for the children to run on. (See the toe of my size 7 shoe at the bottom for comparison.)
