A Tale of Two Covers

As any author can tell you, sometimes it’s difficult to find
just the right model for the cover of your book. I was lucky to find not just
the right model, but the perfect “warrior couple” for my book JEXX. But there
was a small—or rather, “busty”—problem. The heroine has a belt covering the
strategic areas of her breasts, but there’s still a lot left showing.
I initially placed the title on the lower right side of the
cover. But after several retail sites began removing or hiding “objectionable”
covers, I realized this one might cause problems. So I created an alternate
version, with the title placed to where you couldn’t see much of her chest
area. That second cover is the one uploaded to Amazon, B&N, etc. It will
also be on the print edition.
However, fear not! If you’re wondering, the original cover
can still be seen on my personal website and this blog, and in the PDF version of the ebook! Check it out at http://lindamooney.com/JEXX.htm
if you’re curious. J

He couldn’t die without her, and he wouldn’t die
with her.
Not if she had anything to say about it.
The tide has turned in a centuries’
long war, and the Intergalactic Military has been tapped to step
in and lend a hand. Sent to assist the Bo’Estrons, Captain Jelia
Linh and her crew find themselves under immediate attack and in
a fight for their own lives.
The rescue goes wrong, and
ironically Kaxx must save the ones sent to aid them,
but he isn’t expecting the feelings the female captain
invokes.
The tingling sensation he gets when he touches her. It couldn’t
be…could it? He’d missed his chance long ago.
The mission to help find the
missing crewmembers is proving futile, as they’re all being
picked off one bunker at a time. The battle is heating up, and
it’s no longer about protecting their own. The Bo’Estron are
fighting back, but with the Varnarians teaming up with the
Hojinths, do they stand a chance?
War. Betrayal. Enemies. Allies.
Saviors. Mates.
Torn between duty and love, two become one.
Torn between duty and love, two become one.
Warning! Contains a hax and a soword,
spaceships and blasters, freezing nights and blistering days,
lumpy bumpy aliens and enemies with tentacles, underground
bunkers, and an impossible merger that brings two species
together in soul-searing passion and power.

BEAUTY'S ALIEN BEAST Just Won a Science Fiction Romance Galaxy Award for 2018!

Best Out-of-Space Cop Award-Despite-the-Title
Linda Mooney has been writing a lot and for quite a while. Her newest book “Beauty’s Alien Beast” is the best one yet.
A rough, yet honorable, female intergalactic cop with some fierce mental power, called psionic abilities, is on a break when she sees a beast-alien from a mining planet getting ambushed by vicious, little mean aliens called Kronners. Instead of being able to help him, the cop gets caught as well and knocked out. Both awake in a container. The beast can’t use his strength to get to the enemies, and she’s got an implant that sends shockwaves of pain through her brain when she tries to use her power. Worse, their prison cells are hooked up on an alien version of dark-net and they are forced to “entertain” subscribers. Of course, they escape — after all, it is a SCI-FI Rom, but that’s when it really gets interesting. What they had to do to stay alive is illegal and they are facing their own planet’s judgements, which is just as dangerous as the criminal mind behind the kidnapping who is still out to get them.
I loved everything about this book, though I think a different title would have been a better choice.

Garenth had been awakened to
retrieve an ancient artifact that was crucial to his well-being.
He had few memories of what his life had been like when he had
been a man. What memories that were left were filled with blood
and excruciating pain.
That part of him was over now. The talisman had been taken from its sacred burial place, and it had to be returned as quickly as possible. It was up to him to follow through with his mission so he could return to another thousand years of sleep.
Brielle Van de Camp knew an extraordinary find when she saw it. The small clay figure was the key to a potentially earth‑shattering revelation about a previously unknown time in man's ancestry. She would bet her life on it.
Unfortunately, others had gotten wind of the talisman, and they were equally determined to claim its promise for themselves. If Brielle wasn't willing to part with the figurine, they had no compunction about prying it from her dead fingers.
They never counted on having to face the guardian of the statuette, who turned out to be more than a creature of mythology.
Warning! Contains a magic talking rock, a mother idol, boo-lets, a cell phone app, deadly intruders, a ruthless businessman, a key card, and a warrior trying to cope with an ages-old curse with the help of a woman who must be a blessing from the gods.

Interview: Capturing the Beautiful Bond Between Mongolian Eagle Keepers and Their Birds
In the far reaches of Mongolia, a small group of nomads keeps the tradition
of eagle hunting alive. Also known as falconry, this ancient tradition requires
skilled handlers to train birds of prey to assist in hunting wild animals. In
ancient times, the practice was restricted to the noble classes, but today
berkutchi—as it’s called in Mongolia—is a right of passage for young men
living in Western Mongolia’s Altai region.
Golden eagles are the most commonly used birds in the region, a rare feat as
eagles are notoriously hard to train and manage. But the approximately 300
remaining eagle keepers forge a deep bond with their companions, skillfully
working with them in a unique partnership to hunt foxes and small hares.
Photographer Daniel Kordan recently spent time with a group of eagle
keepers, where he was able to capture the beauty of their bonds.
