Book Description:
“When faced with monstrosity, become the greater monster. The sting of victory will fade with time.”
When Flowridia, a witch granted power by an unknown demon, deceives an alluring foreign diplomat, she is promoted to a position of power to conceal her falsehood. Thrust into a world of politics and murderous ambition, she has her gentle heart and her Familiar to guide her – as well as a drunk Celestial with a penchant for illusion.
Meanwhile, Lady Ayla Darkleaf, Grand Diplomat of Nox’Kartha, smiles with predatory charm and wields her blades with a dancer’s grace. Flowridia falls into a toxic love affair, one she knows will end in heartbreak. But as Ayla’s legacy as a vampiric creature unfolds, Flowridia begins to see the broken woman behind the monster.
When a foreign emperor dies at the hands of a mysterious interloper, one who seeks to collect the greatest sources of power in the realms, Flowridia’s kingdom is charged to stop him. But Flowridia’s devotion becomes torn between duty to her own and the woman whose claws grip her heart.
In the ensuing clash of Gods, Flowridia must choose her loyalties with care – the fate of kingdoms rest in her hands.
Excerpt:
The next morning,
twelve roses sat in a bouquet on her bedside table. Flowridia steadily blinked
into wakefulness, smiling fondly in the dim morning light.
The scratching
of a pen on paper alerted her to the presence beside her. She turned over, only
to see Ayla sitting in her bed, legs under the covers. The lithe woman, still
fully dressed and hair well-kempt, glanced down from the nondescript book in
her hand. The other held a pen. “Good morning,” Ayla said, and she turned the
book toward her.
Flowridia saw a
detailed ink drawing of her own sleeping image, her breath leaving her as she
studied the near-perfect likeness. Each individual strand of hair seemed ready
to burst from the page, her lips glossy, and even the gentle blemishes of her
face – her faint freckles and hints of scars – held a delicate beauty about
them. A stunning image, and Flowridia felt heat color her cheeks.
This was how
Ayla saw her. “It’s beautiful.”
“You can have
it. I have others like it,” Ayla said, and she ripped the page from the book
and leaned over to place it on Flowridia’s table. She set the book aside and
slid down next to Flowridia and the little wolf who slept beside her.
“I didn’t expect
you to be here,” Flowridia said softly, and when Ayla pressed their lips
together, she smiled wide.
A vicious grin
tugged at Ayla’s mouth as she pulled away. “What’s the worst Casvir can do?
Kill me?” She chuckled and snaked her arms around Flowridia’s waist, keeping
their bodies flush together. “Besides, I got carried away with drawing. After
you fell asleep, I realized how peaceful you are to watch.”
An odd
statement, and Flowridia raised an eyebrow. “I would have thought you already
knew that, with how often you’d snuck into my bedroom.”
“Clever girl,”
Ayla said, and she planted a kiss on Flowridia’s cheek.
Feeling brave,
Flowridia dared to add, “And you have other drawings like it, you said?”
A wide and
dangerous grin spread across Ayla’s face. “Most are from memory. But it’s been
a long time since I’ve had as pretty a subject as you.”
Somewhere in the
depths of Flowridia’s sense of self-preservation, she suspected she ought to
object to this, yet this sudden change in Ayla’s decorum, while jarring, wasn’t
unappreciated. Instead, she said, “How did you learn to draw so well?”
Ayla chuckled.
“When you’ve lived as many centuries as I have, you pick up a few hobbies.” Her
hand moved up to stroke Flowridia’s hair, her neck, and as she traced down,
Ayla flinched at the scar. She glanced down and leaned in to place a kiss at
the top, above the collar of Flowridia’s dress. “Give it time. It will fade.”
By Flowridia’s
side, the small wolf stirred, perhaps awakened by their conversing. In clumsy
motions, Demitri approached Ayla, even as she leaned away, visibly wary.
“It’s all right
if you touch him,” Flowridia said, smiling softly. “You don’t need my
permission; only his.”
In tentative
motions, Ayla offered a hand forward, but Demitri ignored it. Instead he
settled into Ayla’s lap, curling into a ball while she kept her hands up, oddly
stiff.
But before
Flowridia could comment, Ayla lowered her hands, letting one settle onto
Demitri’s back with a quiet smile.
Flowridia
watched them fondly, the peaceful scene warming her tender heart. “Ayla, last
night . . .” Her breath hitched when Ayla glanced up. “I shouldn’t have told
you to leave. I’m sorry.”
Ayla held her
gaze, her smile fading as she shook her head. “We both said terrible things.”
When she returned her attention to Demitri, Flowridia knew Ayla would say
nothing more.
“You mentioned
something else,” Flowridia dared to push. When she hesitated, Ayla reached over
to cup her cheek, softness returning to the vampiric woman’s expression. “Are
you The Endless Night?”
“Oh, Flowra,”
Ayla said, amusement in her words. “I promise, I am no demon.” She scattered
kisses across Flowridia’s forehead, and with each one Flowridia felt her body
relax. A firm kiss pressed against her lips. “No need to worry yourself.”
Ayla said
nothing more, instead continuing those sweet gestures. Each kiss brought a
deeper blush to her cheeks until, giggling, Flowridia dove in to return the
favor. Their lips met, and when her tongue parted Ayla’s lips, she reveled in
the soft moan her cold companion released.
With an apology,
she sent Demitri away. Alone with Ayla, Flowridia savored every unmapped curve
of her body, before finally settling at the valley between her legs.
Bitterness, she discovered, was the sweetest taste of all. Ayla’s pleasure rose
with the sun.

Please Welcome Tena Stetler as She Tells Us About Her Paranormal Romance, A Witch’s Journey, A Witch’s Journey Series Book One
Speaking of Hauntings!
Did you know, most present day Halloween traditions are traceable to the ancient Celtic day of the dead? Halloween consists of mysterious customs, but each has a history, or at least a story behind it.
Take wearing costumes, and roaming from door to door demanding treats. This behavior can be traced to the Celtic period and the first few centuries of the Christian era, when it was thought that the souls of the dead were out and about, along with fairies, witches, and demons. Offerings of food and drink were left out to placate them. As the centuries wore on, people began dressing like these creatures, performing antics in exchange for food and drink. This is where the practice of trick-or-treating began. To this day, vampires, witches, ghosts, and skeletons are among the favorite costumes.
Our Halloween also retains activities from the original harvest holiday of Samhain, such as bobbing for apples and carving vegetables, (pumpkins) as well as the fruits, nuts, and spices for cider associated with the day. Although at my house, hot chocolate is pretty popular, since Halloween almost guarantees the first snow of the year.
Looking for a fun Halloween Read? A Witch's Journey is chocked full of meddling ghosts, shapeshifters, sexy witch, a ruggedly-handsome Navy SEAL. An exciting story of redemption, wildlife rescue and Halloween festivals.
What more could you ask for? I love Halloween, don’t you?

Please Welcome Veronica Scott as She Tells Us About Her Sci-Fi Romance, "Mystery Dancer" from Embrace the Passion, Pets in Space 3 Anthology
STAR CRUISE: MYSTERY
DANCER
from Pets In Space 3:
Embrace the Passion
Embrace the Passion
by Veronica Scott
Thanks for having me as your guest to talk about my story
for this year’s Pets In Space 3: Embrace
the Passion anthology!
I love going back to revisit my interstellar cruise liner,
the Nebula Zephyr, for these PISA
stories, as the ship cruises through the futuristic human civilization known as
The Sectors. I’ve written a number of
books and novellas centered on events aboard the ship now and find the whole
cruise setup lends itself to telling a good scifi romance adventure tale.
Readers new to my world don’t need to know a lot of backstory to enjoy the
events, and for those who have read others in the series, it’s a nice return to
see some favorite characters (I hope!).
I’ve always been fascinated by dancers and dancing,
including (but not limited to) the Rockettes, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders,
“A Chorus Line”, Dancing with the Stars, old movie musicals, “Center Stage” – if
it has dancing, I’ll be there! (I have two left feet so it’s wish fulfillment
for me LOL.) When I established my interstellar cruise line, I put a theater
and a resident troupe of dancers on board, naming them the Comettes.
Unfortunately in the first scifi romance novel I published, Wreck of the Nebula Dream, the ship gets
destroyed, so I never had a chance to tell a story featuring my dancers. I put
a theater and more Comettes on board my next cruise liner, the Nebula Zephyr, and now finally the right
heroine has come along.
The dancing makes for a bit of a lighter element to the
story to contrast with many of the suspenseful events relating to the heroine’s
tragic past.
Tassia, the lead in this year’s story, is a long lost
princess and I asked myself how such a person would get on board the ship and
what she could do there to fit in. It occurred to me a princess, even one
raised on the run, would probably know how to dance. I set up my auditions at
the spaceport of the planet in question and after a long, grueling day, Tassia
gets hired to fill an opening in the troupe. See the excerpt below for a taste
of the audition process!

STAR CRUISE: MYSTERY
DANCER blurb: Tassia Megg is a woman
on the run after the death of her elderly guardian. Her search to get off the
planet in a hurry comes when chance directs her to an open dance audition for
the luxury cruise liner Nebula Zephyr’s resident troupe. If there is one thing
Tassia can do, it is dance!
Security Officer Liam Austin is suspicious of the newest
performer to join the Comettes. She shows all the signs of being a woman on the
run and seems to fit the Sectors-wide broadcast description of a missing thief,
accused of stealing priceless artifacts. As he gets to know Tassia during the cruise,
he starts to wonder if she’s something more – a long vanished princess in
hiding from deadly political enemies of her family perhaps? And what’s the
story with the three-eyed feline companion other crew members swear Tassia
brought aboard the ship? Does the animal even exist?
As the ship approaches its next port of call, all the issues
come to a boil and Liam must decide if he’ll step in to help Tassia or betray
her. Life is about to get very interesting aboard the Nebula Zephyr as Liam
tries to uncover the truth. Could F’rrh, the peculiar alien cat he has been
hearing about, be the key to the mystery and Tassia’s fate?
The excerpt – the
Director of the Comettes is speaking and has outlined the process and her
needs. Micki is another dancer who’s kindly befriend Tassia at the auditon.:
“I need five dancers and possibly an alternate or two, but I
won’t hire anyone today if the fit
isn’t there. Questions?”
There were no questions. Tassia hung onto her backpack
tightly, a bit intimidated at the way the women surrounding her seemed so
comfortable with the audition process. One probably didn’t start a career as a
professional dancer in the Sectors by auditioning for a premiere troupe. She
felt her muscles tightening the more she considered the daunting odds of her
making it all the way to selection. Taking a deep breath, she reminded herself
sternly there were no other options for her so she’d simply have to be good
enough to force the Comettes to want her in their ranks.
Tassia wanted to inquire who the other judges were—several
women and one man, but she decided it didn’t matter. The director was the one
who did the hiring and who had to be impressed.
As the first ten girls lined up on the specified area of the
floor, Tassia was suddenly glad her number placed her in the tenth group. She’d
have time to see what other people did for their freestyle to attempt to
impress Ms. Cartajj. And a solo, if she got that far.
What she realized as she watched the dancers take the floor
was people were highlighting what they did best. For some it was leaps or
turns. For others apparently it was gymnastic moves, although for many the
skill being showcased involved a lot of precise steps accented with shimmying
and hip swivels. A number of the women had obviously pre-choreographed sets of
steps they repeated as long as the music was on.
By the time her turn came, Tassia decided to do a sequential
series of rapid steps, pirouettes and showy poses requiring supremely good
balance, which she could fit to the music being provided. It was her
observation from watching the judges that dancers who showed technical skills
appeared to make more of a favorable impression than the ones who did flashy,
sexy moves. She walked confidently to her designated spot on the temporary
wooden dance floor, assumed the opening pose and launched into her routine as
the first notes sounded. Remembering to smile as if her audience was composed
of her best friends, she had no clear memory of the two minutes when she
finished with a graceful final pose. As she walked from the space, she believed
she’d done well.
“Wow, you’re something else,” Micki grabbed her by the
elbow. Micki had been one of the candidates demonstrating spins and beautiful
extensions, combined with sexy shimmies. “Where the seven hells did you train?”
“Private tutors when I was a kid,” Tassia said vaguely. “Did
I look all right, compared to the others?”
Micki laughed. “Miss High and Mighty Director never took her
eyes off you. I’d say you’re clear to the semifinals at least.”
“Who are the other people sitting with her?”
“Her assistant, Syadana, also the Cruise Director for the
ship, the dance captains from the two casts, and I heard someone say the cute
guy is ship’s security, here to do the paperwork for anyone she hires, so the
person can ship out today. The ship leaves orbit tonight.” Micki nudged her in
the ribs. “Whoever he is, he was pretty riveted by your performance too.”
Pacing, rising onto her toes to keep her muscles from
cooling off too much, Tassia shook her head. “If he’s not a decider, he’s
irrelevant.”
Seeming to be at a loss for words, Micki gave her a
wide-eyed look. “Well, he’s damn cute anyway. I hope the director lets him vote
because I know he paid attention to me.”

Six on Sunday - GISELLE, a Contemporary Fantasy/Futuristic/Apocalyptic/Post-Apocalyptic Romance
Six paragraphs from GISELLE, a Contemporary Fantasy, Futuristic, Post-Apocalyptic Romance
1. For the next quarter hour, Giles listened to his friend spill his problems, but only with half an ear. He’d been considering turning his novel into an audio book ever since he released it, but there were too many obstacles in his way. First and foremost, the cost was prohibitive. If he had the funds, he would love to have multiple voice actors do the various characters. It was a nice pipe dream, but not doable at this time. In fact, he couldn’t even afford to hire a female narrator to do the heroine’s part. If he did this project, he would have to provide the voices for each character. Although it wasn’t uncommon for a narrator to perform both genders, the book would be much better with two distinctive voices.
2. He opened a new file, then jumped up from his seat and ran into the booth. Gripping his hands into fists to help control his excitement, he slowly called out to the entity. “Who are you? What is your name? Where are you? How come you’re able to read from my script, but you’re not here recording with me?” He forced himself to give several seconds’ worth of pause between each question, and not run everything into one long demand. Hurrying back into the editing booth, he hit playback.
3. He chuckled. “Giselle, this whole thing is beyond belief. So why is New York now called New New York? And why the rigmarole with the calendar? Why would you want to start with Year Zero?” Unless… A chill went through him as he waited for her reply.
4. The place was busy, despite the lateness of the hour. Fortunately, the owner’s wife recognized him as a regular, and led him to a small table for two. After giving the woman his order, he whipped out his phone and went to the internet. For some reason, the need to check the news seemed paramount, and he typed in approaching meteor storm in the search box. Several headings popped up, but the one from some science research academy interested him the most. He pressed it, and when the page opened, he stared at the caption. But it was the second headline that blew a cold internal wind through him.
5. “His touch was an electric shock from her neck to her toes. Just as she felt her knees start to buckle, she saw him open his coat and wrap it around her, enclosing her tightly against his frame. A feathery kiss lit on her neck, then her cheek, her eyelids. His breath tickled her ear as she found herself being lifted off the cold floor and carried into the bedroom. Laying her gently on the bed, he brushed the hair from her face.”
6. She lost track of time as she climbed the remains of what used to be a majestic range of tree-covered peaks. Like everything else on the planet, they had sustained massive damage. What the meteors didn’t obliterate upon impact, the resulting chain reactions nearly did. Huge tidal waves smashed coastal cities, flooding towns sometimes as far as a hundred miles inland. Some meteors triggered earthquakes, or caused volcanoes which had been dormant for hundreds of years to suddenly start erupting. She gazed up at the current landscape. Here it was evident this place had seen rockslides. Whole sections had collapsed, until the mountain range was reduced to rolling hills. Yet, her faith remained strong. She trusted Giles had found an area where he’d least likely be affected. At least, she wanted to think he had.

9. True Blood TV series. Vamps, wolves, witches, and the fae. Fun, funny, dark, and bloody.
10. One last movie, and my all-time fav, The Cabin in the Woods (2012). Funny, a bit scary with some good and creepy transformation effects, and chock-full of great lines such as: “Yeah, uh, I had to dismember that guy with a trowel. What have you been up to?” and, “Hey, shh, no. I totally get it. I’m sorry I let you get attacked by a werewolf and then ended the world.”

Book Description:
Human-wolf hybrid Darci Diamond spends every full moon locked in auntie’s basement in Southern Oregon. Her excruciating shifts terrify her, the last one causing her heart to stop beating. Seeking a cure, she journeys to Los Lobos.
Ross Luparell returns to the struggling Tao pack, using his millions made in the tech industry to build homes for pack families in need. He never imagined he would also find his one true mate. But when a hybrid with the biggest green eyes he’s ever seen lands on his doorstep in the middle of a wicked summer storm, there’s no denying it. She’s the one.
She wants a normal human life, free from pain-filled shifts. He won’t give up on her Wolf, and will do whatever it takes to help her accept her true nature. But can he convince her to trust him with her heart?
