Quotes of the Day

And to conclude with a fireworks display of humor:

When a child is locked in the bathroom with water running and he says he's doing nothing but the dog is barking, call 911.

When your mother asks, "Do you want a piece of advice?" it is a mere formality. It doesn't matter if you answer yes or no. You're going to get it anyway.

Who in their infinite wisdom decreed that Little League uniforms be white? Certainly not a mother.

Youngsters of the age of two and three are endowed with extraordinary strength. They can lift a dog twice their own weight and dump him into the bathtub.

When humor goes, there goes civilization.

And my personal favorite:

When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, "I used everything you gave me".

Setting Things Straight: WCPT is NOT a Vanity Publisher!

Once upon a time, Whiskey Creek Press USED TO charge authors who wanted to exercise their option to put their books in PRINT ( NOT to PUBLISH their books.) It was NEVER a requirement for publishing in e-format.

That "option" was dropped as of January, 2008. That's a year and a half ago, folks. Their contract now states that if the ebook sells a certain specified minimum number AND if the book is a minimum number of words (aka: short stories will not go to print due to size vs costs, only novellas and novels), then the book goes to print AT NO CHARGE TO THE AUTHOR.

So please do not think of WCP/T as being a vanity press. Not anymore. Not in a LONG time. That argument is long dead and gone.

Thank you.

Drive-By Posting - My Take On It

I've just been accused of "drive-by posting".

*sigh*

After the initial "huh?", it was explained to me. Anyone who posts on email loop lists ONLY when they have a new release, or want to promote their book for various reasons and do not actively participate on the loop at any other time is therefore a "drive-by poster". And apparently being a DBP is a big NO-NO.

*double sigh*

I thought about this, and here's what I have to say about being a DBP.

I work full time. Writing is my hobby, my part-time job. That means my writing time is limited and therefore very precious to me. I would LOVE to be able to spend more time on the loops talking, but that would take time away from my writing. If you consider the number of loops I'm on, not counting taking care of my website, my blog, my MySpace, and a dozen other sites where I have a presence, trying to be active is more than a problem. It's almost an impossibility.

So what would you rather see? Me, on the loops, chatting away? Or more of my books?

Thumbs Up or Down? New Book Trailer Videos!

Okay. After much trial and error (too many attempts to mention, and about three times the errors), I've come up with a new "version" of my book video trailers. Here's how they differ:

1. classical music (so no copyright infringement)
2. NO words on screen (many times I've heard comments that either the words disappear before they can be read, or that the words are too hard to read against the background picture)
3. the blurb is read

So tell me what you think. Honestly. My first one completed is to LORD OF THUNDER, my newest release. Eventually I'll get all my books changed over, but until then...

Tidbits and Trivia - And You Could Win a Prize!

Can you find the homage?

$6.99 E-book

Rating: 5 Enchantments

Let’s meet our rugged hero Udo Vosstien known as Hunter by his comrades in arms. He is a very hard working young man. His word is his bond and everyone knows it. He is very much in love with his young wife Terrin known as Starlight and he is also a little worried, she is just now getting her strength back and it is almost time to return to work. All he can hope for is the best but if anything happened to her he does not think he would survive it.

Now for our heroine Terrin Vosstirn known as Starlight. A young woman that would give her life for those she loved and almost did. She has came on her Honeymoon for a little rest and relaxation hoping to get to know Hunter’s parents better. She is still a little tired but will soon be her old self again. But she can never forget what she had to give up to save a world - her child.

This is a story of two of the most noble of the Guardians. Hunter and Starlight were destined to become one. It started with a manipulation but ended with a dream come true. They have come to Hunter’s home planet to get Starlight's strength up and on the way find out about Heart Crystals and actually get one, never dreaming that it would one day save thir lives and the lives of their future children.

I loved this story; it had all the elements of my favorite Genre, Sc/fi romance. Ms Mooney again has brought amazing characters to life and made them seem real. She has magic in her fingers when it comes to her stories. Her books are full of wonders and dreams, and they pull you into them and you never want to leave.

This book left me with a feeling of what it could be like to travel with such wonderful people. I cannot wait to get my hands on her next novel. She never disappoints and always leaves you wanting more. In my humble opinion she is one of the best authors EVER.

New!

Lord of Thunder

An Erotic Fantasy Romance Novel
(Book 1 of the Thunder Trilogy)
From Whiskey Creek Press Torrid

Annie Mayall was a young bride, brought to Montana in 1940 by her new husband to start their new life together...as soon as he struck it rich in the promised silver mines.

Abandoned for three long desperate and lonely years, Annie was forced to survive by herself in the wilds of the mountains. Until one stormy night brought a severely wounded stranger to her tiny one-room cabin. A stranger both mystical and fascinating. A stranger who not only brought her happiness, but a kind of love she never knew existed.

A stranger who was not of this earth.

Warning: This book contains mutilation, abandonment, total isolation, harsh and unbearable weather, blood-letting, attempted homicide, attempted angelcide, snoopy but concerned neighbors, close confinement, and unusual uses for a feather.
